The Radar Installation is a long range radar system which is used to find enemy units and structures.
The Radar Installation can differentiate between air and ground units, but cannot identify exactly what kind of units they are. The Radar Installation also cannot identify what team the units are on, making all units grey on the radar map until identified.
Tips
- Illuminate Radar Installations have a researchable upgrade that allows you to greatly increase the radar and vision range for a short period of time which can be activated in exchange for some energy. This ability can be activated several times in immediate sucession to view the entire map as each immediatly repeated use stacks the visual range extension.
- Radar Installations are important in defence as it allows you to spot incoming enemy units at greater distance and gives you time to prepare. Rather than if it comes into the radar range of one of your units, almost on top of you.
- Peppering Radar Installations over large areas is a good way to know if an unexpected attack is coming or if your enemy is making an attempt at flanking your main defence/radar installation.
- A Radar Installation is also useful for identifying targets at long range for units/buildings such as naval units or artillery. Most naval units can quickly move out of the range of thier landlocked Radar Installations forcing you to move much closer to the target and limiting you from using your ship's full potential.
